Introducing Kate

My first love was with a troubled trecking pony called Cory.  He was head shy and could not be caught in the field.  I took on  a bet that I could go up to him in the field and put a head coller on him by the end of my holiday.  I befriended him, gained his trust and won the bet (for all of 6d!).

Later in my life I encountered Reiki and took to it enthusiasticly, for treating other people to begin with.  However I soon discovered how much animals enjoy to receive Reiki and realised that I had discovered a new way to be with horses.

I treated a troubled driving pony who was afraid of the show ring and he taught me a great deal about how to work with a horse that has a difficult history.  He also gave me his trust, which helped to deepen the trust he had in his owner too.  His life improved, to the point he began to positively enjoy going to shows and won many classes.  He was my first Reiki success with horses!

I enjoy sharing Reiki with people in many ways, giving treatments and teaching Reiki.  I have a particular love of giving Reiki to horses: it is such fun to see the way they relax and doze like on a sunny day.  With a well balanced horse this can happen in minutes, it is also great to see a stressed horse relax.

I have been practicing Reiki since 1989 and teaching since 1991.  I also trained as an Animal Communication practitioner with James French and sometimes combine this with the Reiki to help understand a horse's problem.

There is a growing community of people who wish to see horses live happy and productive lives without the need for forcing them to obey us.  I feel Reiki has a part to play in this work, giving people and horses the opportunity to connect in a way that is beneficial to both.
