So What is Reiki and How does it Work?

'Reiki' is a Japanese word that translates as 'Universal Life Energy'.  It is the energy that animates life and flows through everything.

People who learn Reiki are connected with this energy, like a hose to a tap.  When that person places their hands on a being that is out of balance, this energy - Reiki - flows through their hands like water down the hose.  The being who is receiving the Reiki is in control of the flow - like having a hand on the tap to turn it on more or less - but not on a conscious level.  Indeed giving and receiving Reiki is effortless, except for the physical effort involved in holding the hands (and for horses it appears the physical effort of staying standing up!).  No effort of mind is required - it is a natural process, like water being absorbed into a dry sponge.

Most creatures (humans, horses, cats, dogs...) find this Reiki energy deeply relaxing.  The resulting reduction of stress levels allows the body to heal naturally.  Reiki is also reported to help with emotional issues, such as past trauma that is unresolved.

Horses have often experienced situations that have been traumatic for them, whether accidentally or during training.  They can also benefit from the reassurance they feel when this warming and relaxing energy is given to them by human hands.

Many people have learned Reiki these days and might wish to use it on their horse, but be unsure how to.  I offer a workshop where I show you a sequence of hand positions to work with horses, with some practical experience on some willing ponies who love Reiki.  Click here to go to my other website to find out more.

I also teach people Reiki, so that they can use it for themselves and their families - including the horse or pony family member!  Being stress free yourself is also important in your relationship with your horse and Reiki can help you to remain calm and relaxed in a variety of situations: very helpful for good riding and horsemanship. I also enjoy treating horses, so if you and your horse or pony live in a 30 mile radius of Ludlow I would be happy to come out to you.  Cost will depend on the distance to be travelled.

If you would be like to know more about treatments or anything else please contact me.
